Are you getting FAT or FATTER? What about Obesogens??

March 16, 2012    Do you blame yourself? Do you blame your genes? God? Wait a minute!

Maybe you  should BLAME the filthy rich 1%!!

Obesogen  (20,400 results 0.14 seconds from Google using Firefox), then from Wikipedia
(I love Wikipedia for their extensive references and even the controversies they report.)

Obesogens are foreign chemical compounds that disrupt normal development and balance of lipid metabolism, which in some cases, can lead to obesity.[1][2][3] Obesogens may be functionally defined as chemicals that inappropriately alter lipid homeostasis and fat storage, change metabolic setpoints, disrupt energy balance or modify the regulation of appetite and satiety to promote fat accumulation and obesity.[4]

Programmed to be Fat?

Are we fat because of man-made chemicals?
New science links environmental chemicals to the global obesity epidemic.
Controversial new science is raising suspicion that chemicals in the environment may be programming us to be fat. And it starts before we’re even born.  That’s the subject of a new Dreamfilm documentary called Programmed to be Fat?.

Obesity in Canada has doubled in less than 30 years. 59 per cent of all Canadians are now either overweight or obese.  It’s true that we eat too much and don’t exercise enough. But a small group of scientists have begun looking beyond the obvious because of a group that can’t chew, let alone jog: infant obesity rose more than 70 per cent in just 20 years. You can’t blame them for unhealthy lifestyles.  The scientists suspect that, starting in the womb, man-made chemicals may be triggering changes to our metabolism that result in life-long weight gain.
Programmed to be Fat? tells the stories of three scientists whose unexpected findings led them to follow the research of a curious doctor in Scotland, baffled by her inability to lose weight. For three years she pored over existing research on environmental chemicals and finally published a key study in an alternative medicine journal. It linked endocrine-disrupting chemicals to the obesity epidemic. The scientists came across the paper while puzzling over their own research results.  None of their studies were about fat, but they had two things in common – they were all researching endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and they all ended up with unusually heavy lab animals.

Endocrine disruptors are all around us – in plastic, in cans, in the water we drink, in the food we eat.  They’re not supposed to enter our bodies, but they do. If they’re proven to cause weight gain, the implications for human health are profound.

Now, scientists are going beyond animal research to human population studies, testing the theory that fetal exposure to man-made chemicals is a key reason for our global obesity epidemic.

Thanks to the above KNOWLEDGE, I can know begin to UNDERSTAND how I've been used and abused by those filthy rich 1%. And knowledge IS power!

I'm now 64, but I began to wreck my health by smoking cigarettes in 1961 when I was 14, quit when I was 37 (thanks Smokenders!). During this time, I smoked, tried EVERYTHING for sale in Edmonton, Alberta and after my move in 1978, in Victoria, BC, but my favourite smoke was Macdonald, Export "A". I also drank gallons of Pepsi and coffee at my J.O.B.s (Just Over Broke) in Edmonton as a real estate, heavy equipment salesman and Alberta Service Manager with Acme Steel, then in Victoria with Columbia Valve and Fitting and later with Airco Products Ltd., Vancouver, B.C.

So now we are beginning to understand what the rich have known for a long time! Isn't it time they paid for what they have done to us? I've become obese, had two heart attacks and now live with Congestive Heart Failure... Over the years, as I grew in girth, I sought answers, studied and became a vegetarian, macrobiotic and raw food diet adherent.  I've spent money on weight loss clinics, books, tapes, seminars and so on... As my weight would approach HWP (BMI) territory, I would "fall off the wagon" and hate myself for what I felt was my weakness.

Conclusion: As my grade four elementary school teacher, Mary Ellen Gadd, at Parkview School wrote in my autograph book so many years ago, "Love many, trust few, always paddle you own canoe!" This means no more processed foods. And associate with people who are aware of better ways...like Fasting, Nutritarian and SDA dietary teachings. For me, knowing God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I no longer have to depend solely on advice from this world. I ask for His help and He provides me with His eternal knowledge of how He created this world to work. Amen?

Save Compassion Farm

On Facebook, Protect Urban Agriculture, Save Compassion Farm... Open group
Whelm King asked: dirk or nicole.. can you please post a quick update of where your situation stands at the moment, and refresh us about upcoming notable dates?

Dirk Becker answered: Thanks for asking! At least 3 fronts of action as we are waiting.
1) Lantzville folks can show up at council meetings and ask how things are progressing as we have not heard anything yet.
2) Folks outside of Lantzville can phone, write, mail to enquire.
3) Everyone in the 'Mid Island' and beyond needs to go to all of their elected representatives on every level (municipal, provincial, federal) and engage with them as to what we are are we doing and going to do for ensuring a food supply?
Retell that: "We grow less than 5% of our food on Van Isle"! . "There is only 2 days fresh food supply in stores"!
Our goals is: That bylaws and laws on every level are changed immediately to reflect current awareness and future needs. This means (with minimal exception) that virtually anyone can grow food anywhere (including for sale).
This means that laws and bylaws not only "allow" such activities but actually support, protect, encourage, facilitate and increase "agri-culture" in any and all city, (including boulevards and parks) industrial, urban, interurban, semi rural, rural etc, areas.

Said: Ha ha, I always laugh at this 2 days...my parents lived through the war in England 1939 - 45 on very expensive, rationed foods, indeed people were healthier for growing their own foods rather than depending on "factory foods." That was then, this is now and for the 2/3 of North Americans (including me) who are obese we would do very well if we were required to cut back on our caloric intakes. Besides, fasting isn't starving; for some it is the only way we can overcome this plague of plastic, addictive, additive filled, dead, non-foods. We need people who will grow real foods locally.

FASTING: Do or Die - Sooner than Later

Yesterday, December 17, 2010, here in Ladysmith, British Columbia I went to see my doctor. Two concerns this time; my left ankle healing and shortness of breath.

My left ankle was injured the first Sunday in November on the 7th, 2010. I was in the garden, trying to pick some greens to make a Green Smoothie to take with me to the Raw Nanaimo potluck. To keep the rabbits out, I've got a small screen as a temporary gate. Instead of moving it, I tripped on it, slipped on a wet board with my left ankle and as I went down, felt a really sharp pain in my left ankle, which wasn't made better by my back landing on a sharp corner of the RV pad. I'm very fortunate, I didn't hit my head! I had an x-ray about November 17 and the technician told me I should follow up. My doctor brought the digital x-ray up on his computer and showed me I have little reason to worry; no fracture, but the torn ligaments are still hurting. He said that will take time.

My shortness of breath keeps getting worse. I saw an article in alive Magazine about COPD and wondered if that could be the problem. Also when I met Annamie, my wife in Calgary in April of 2008, I was 170 pounds, I wasn't looking forward to the inevitable weigh in. The doctor and I discussed COPD, he compared my overly swollen left ankle and foot  to my right one and we could see there is a lot of fluid retention.

I was invited to the scale and was dismayed to discover I now weigh 234 pounds! Last time he weighed me, I was 214 pounds, down from 225#. Then my blood pressure was taken. And lastly, I was asked if I had finished my water pills. I haven't, because my weight was going in the right direction, but having been bed ridden for 40 days, I have been eating junk without trying to rest up my injured ankle without alleviating the other concerns.

Last thing Dr. Tim gave me was a prescription for water pills and told me to come back to see him after the New Year. We also discussed my "non-compliance" with doctors advice. Thankfully, Dr. Tim takes the attitude that he gives the best advice he knows, but compliance is up to the patient. He is also going to make me an appointment to have a spirometry test done.

All these things were swirling in my head as we made our way to Chemainus and Wing's buffet. Afterwards we stopped at the 49th Parallel Grocery in Ladysmith and I picked up my oatmeal and raisin cookies, two apple fritters and a 6 pack of Eccles cakes. To even things out, I bought some bananas and some breaded fish. I needed some closure.

This morning I got up at 8 o'clock and did some serious prayer and thinking. I'm overweight again and cheating on my exercise and raw foods. I'm supposed to see a surgeon in February for a right knee replacement, so I've not been getting any exercise for almost 2 years already. I've missed the last two potlucks and I miss the support I get there. So I have made the decision not to eat any solids, I'm on a water fast only again This is the sixth time I've done this in the last five years, the longest so far was 30 days, just before I met Annamie. I really like the FREEDOM fasting gives me! No more shopping, food preparation, dishes to do, defecating and the garbage to dispose of! And with all my fasts, I'm also not taking any prescription drugs.  I have found the first three days are the most difficult as that is when the body is detoxifying itself from all the "food" additives, adulterants, emulsifiers, surfactants, etc.

So, here I am, up against it again! The way I prefer to handle these issues is with a water fast. I ave in the past attended weight loss clinics, Over-eaters Anonymous, diet clinics, etc., and have quite a library on this subject, but prefer Paul Bragg's book, MIRACLE OF FASTING. I'm going online and watching the videos of others for inspiration.

So here it is 8:30 pm on a Saturday night, December 18, 2010. Day 1 ended at sundown, now I'm onto Day 2. I haven't eaten anything since last night! Actually the first three days are the hardest, I'll be detoxifying and then my body will go into ketosis and begin to use the fat I've stored up.  My goal is HWP, Height / Weight Proportional. So for my height, a male, 5' 8" a low weight of 137, a high weight of 171 with a goal weight of 154, I should ideally be 160 pounds. That will take about 40 days to lose those 74 pounds of ugly, energy sucking fat. Then when my weight is under control, I'll need to be on a maintenance, raw food diet.  My flesh needs to know the brain is in control here! Not the mouth!

And besides, there are so many things I want to do in 2011. I need my energy and trim, toned body back.

For me, it is: FASTING: Do or Die - Sooner than Later. Wish me well?!

One other thing? If you've never tried it and want to spew some ill advised venom on me, please pass me by? I'm really discouraged  by some of the fools who post on YouTube.

If however you're wanting encouragement, go for the positive, ask God and receive!
